Procedure for skin tightening

Procedure for skin tightening

With the advancing age, skin becomes lax due to the loss of supporting structures like  collagen and supporting ligaments. As a result, the tissues of the face start sagging. Drooping eyebrows, nasolabial folds, jowls,   double chin and chicken neck are the result of these changes.

It is best to start the treatment early in your third or fourth decade,  to prevent these changes and maintain the skin lifted and youthful. Here are some of the procedures that we do at Subodha skin and cosmetic clinic, the best skin clinic in Bangalore, for anti-aging treatments .

Radiofrequency skin tightening

Specially designed needles are inserted into the skin and radio frequency energy is delivered. This leads to selective damage of the tissues , tissue contraction and collagen remodeling starts. This is a minimally innovative procedure with very little downtime. Post procedure care includes good sun protection, and taking care of redness and dryness.

High-frequency ultrasound treatment/ HIFU

It is a procedure done to tighten the deepest tissues of the skin. The subcutaneous layer of fat and SMAS layers are targeted by ultrasound waves, which help in selectively heating up the tissue and helping them to retract. It is a non-invasive procedure. Typically, this procedure takes about 30 to 40 minutes for a fullface treatment. This procedure is well tolerated and does not need any anesthesia.

Ideal age to undergo this procedure is between 30 to 50 years because the tissues have a higher ability to regenerate and deposition of collagen to be able to tighten the skin. However, patients above 50 years of age also benefit as the deeper tissues contract due to the ultrasound waves, though collagen regeneration is limited. Post procedure care is minimum. Some patients may require analgesics (pain killers) for a day or so. There is no strict sun protection required, but in general sun protection is advised. Cold compresses can be used to relieve the pain if any. This procedure is done once in three months for three sessions. This treatment can also be used to tighten the lax skin of the arms, abdomen and breast.

Procedures for inducing collagen

  • Micro needling with Dermapen- micro needling is a technique where the skin is pierced by small needles, which help in creating new wounds in the skin. With the production of multiple small, tiny holes into the skin, skin receives more blood circulation, thereby bringing in wound healing factors, including platelets and growth factors. Hence stimulating new blood vessel formation. It also helps in stimulating fibroblasts, which are the factories to produce new collagen. The new collagen production, hence starts. This process continues for months together. It improves the quality of the middle layer of skin - the dermis. Which leads to improvement of the skin thickness and better light reflections.
This technique is used either alone or with added medicines following the procedures like retinol, growth factors, Prp, GFC, antioxidant cocktail, and brightening complex. The additional ingredients will be recommended by your  dermatologist depending on your skin needs. Micro needling devices, very with their needle numbers, the size- thickness of the needles, and the speed of penetration.
At Subodha skin and cosmetic clinic, Dermapen 4, the best micro needling device is used for micro needling. This is a patented Australian technology, which helps in achieving best results through Micro needling and transdermal delivery of the active ingredients. It gives the highest amount of collagen deposition, thereby improving the quality of skin and improving the patient outcomes.
  • Prp treatment- Prp treatment, also known as the vampire facial in Western countries is a skin rejuvenation procedure, which utilizes your own blood done in complete, aseptic precautions. This procedure is one of the most liked procedures for skin glow and for anti aging. The patient’s blood is collected in sterile test tubes, and centrifuged to get platelet rich plasma or Prp. The obtained Prp is activated and injected into the dermis either with the help of small needles or through Dermapen. Prp helps in new collagen production, and this improves the quality of skin. Regular PRPs are found to be beneficial in maintaining the skin  healthy and repair of the damaged skin.
  • GFC treatment- growth, effective concentrates are taken from a patient's own blood by using patented vacuum tubes or kits that contain biologically active substances to get the highest yield of growth factors. The advantage of GFC over Prp is that it is more effective and less painful.
  • MnRF treatment- This is a procedure that combines micro needling technology and radio frequency ablation. The special cartridges are used to deliver a calculated dose of radio frequency energy which is delivered to a particular depth in the skin. Does creating a small area of tissue injury inside the deeper layers of the skin. This helps in starting of tissue remodeling and tissue contraction. There are two types of needles used for micro needling procedures. The insulated cartridges are used to minimize the damage to the epidermis, thus, reducing the risk of post inflammatory hyperpigmentation. The non-insulated needles are able to deliver more energy and also create epidermal injury, thereby liberating more growth factors and better results. But with a slight risk of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation. The side effects can be minimized by taking adequate Sun protection.
  • Fractional CO2 laser treatment - fractional CO2 laser treatment is one of the gold standard treatments for production of collagen in the deep layers of skin. The high power RF excited rational CO2 laser machine at Subodha skin and cosmetic clinic is able to deliver ultra pulses of laser energy, creating micro thermal zones of laser ablation. These zones of tissue destruction help in formation of new collagen, which is laid in smooth bundles, leading to improvement in the skin, quality and tightness of skin. This also helps to minimize the open pores. The advantage of fractional CO2 laser is that it brings a uniform skin tone and reverses the photo damaged skin. The pigment changes also disappear leaving a smooth glossy skin.
  • Thread lift- PDO threads are a great way to lift and tighten the skin. These threads induce collagen formation around them, leading to formation of holding collagen bands within the skin. They also act as a scaffolding for the fibroblasts to work on and lay new collagen. These threads are biologically inert materials which get dissolved over a period of time. Though the threats disappear, the collagen produced stays back for years together. Advantages of PDO threads include minimally invasive procedure done under local anesthesia, well tolerated procedure with minimal pain.
